Akta Kerja 1955 PDF – Overview
Akta Kerja 1955 Malasiya, or The Employment Act 1955 or Act 265 was enacted in 1955 and was amended almost entirely in 1998. In 2012, it also underwent quite significant amendments. The Act contains provisions aimed at protecting employees from any exploitation by employers and lays down the minimum benefits that must be provided to employees who are covered under this Act.
In Akta Kerja 1955, any terms of the employment contract that do not comply with the provisions under the Employment Act 1955 or the Sabah/Sarawak Labor Ordinance is void and ineffective. Employees covered under this Act can lodge complaints and claims if the employer fails to comply with the minimum benefits prescribed by the Employment Act 1955.
